Just look at how cut-throat the music industry can be to those who create for our enjoyment.
Taylor Swift's publishers are basically warning her to 'be a good little girl and shut up' about their banning her from her own work.
Young artists who sell the rights to their music early in their career to achieve success (like the Beetles did) should fight to reclaim them. Was she made aware that her publisher could sell copyrights to someone else? $urely her team knew. Granted, the move earned Bazillion$ but so what? Her fans willingly paid everyone. Win-Win!
Fast forward. The new guy who owns her work wants to play hardball preventing her from performing live or using anything she’s written/recorded. Doesn’t her work already put enough in his pocket?
She obviously no longer needs to create for the money. She, like most artists, is just doing what she loves. Whether you like Taylor Swift or not is besides the point. It ain’t right.
His statement appears clear – “we are not preventing Taylor from performing live or using her material.” Well here again, sneaky sneaky. What the bullies (Scooter and Scott) don’t state is that if she does, they can and will sue her. Greedy scum bags.
Taylor can and will re-record her music to regain ownership which brings to mind her song titles; “Look What You Made Me Do” and “ Shake it Off.” Good for her, but, she has to wait nearly 2 years to do it. Meanwhile a documentary about her rise isn't even able to use footage of her work. Not cool. What may be cool though are the songs she’ll likely craft about these boys and the due she’ll reap for her new team delivering more song titles like “Bad Blood”, “Everything Has Changed” and “ We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
Say what you will about her but her writing is clever and she calls it out like she sees it. Shut up and be a good little girl? Be A Good Little Girl Taylor and Shut Up - I hope Not!
